Planning & Zoning Commission

The Village of Ostrander Planning & Zoning Commission plays an important role in guiding the community’s growth, development, and land use. The Commission reviews proposed developments, subdivisions, site plans, and zoning amendments to ensure they comply with the Village’s zoning regulations and long-term planning goals. After careful review, the Commission makes recommendations to Village Council that promote orderly development while preserving the character, safety, and quality of life of the community.

P&Z meetings are generally held the 2nd Thursday of each month at 7:00PM at the Jacob C. Ostrander Community Center – 19 S. Main Street.

Board of Public Affairs

The Village of Ostrander Board of Public Affairs oversees the operation and administration of the Village’s sewer utility. The Board is responsible for providing reliable and cost-effective sewer service by overseeing system maintenance, infrastructure improvements, financial management, regulatory compliance, and long-term planning. The Board also establishes utility policies and works to ensure the sewer system continues to meet the needs of the community while protecting public health and the environment.

Parks Committee

The Village of Ostrander Parks Committee provides oversight and guidance for the planning, development, and enhancement of the Village’s parks and recreational facilities. The Committee works to identify the community’s recreational needs, review park improvement projects, and make recommendations to Village Council regarding the maintenance and future development of park amenities. By working with Village staff, community organizations, and residents, the Committee helps ensure that Ostrander’s parks remain safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for all.

Parks Committee meetings are generally the second Monday of each month at 6:00 PM at the Jacob C. Ostrander Community Center at 19 S. Main St.

Maintenance Committee

The Village of Ostrander Maintenance Committee provides oversight and guidance for the upkeep and improvement of Village-owned facilities, buildings, streets, and infrastructure. The Committee works to identify maintenance needs, prioritize repair and improvement projects, review maintenance-related expenditures, and make recommendations to Village Council. Through careful planning and oversight, the Committee helps ensure that Village assets remain safe, functional, and well-maintained for the benefit of the community.

Records Commission

The Village of Ostrander Records Commission is established in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 149.38. The Commission consists of the Mayor, who serves as chairperson, the Fiscal Officer, the Chief Legal Counsel, and one citizen appointed by the Mayor. The Commission meets at least twice each year and may hold additional meetings as needed.

The Records Commission is responsible for overseeing the retention, preservation, and lawful disposal of the Village’s public records. It reviews and approves records retention schedules and applications for the disposal of obsolete records in accordance with Ohio law. The Commission is committed to maintaining accurate public records, ensuring transparency and accountability, and preserving important historical records for future generations.

Information Technology (IT) Committee

The Village of Ostrander Information Technology (IT) Committee provides oversight and guidance for the Village’s technology systems and digital services. The Committee reviews technology needs, evaluates hardware and software, supports cybersecurity and data protection initiatives, and recommends improvements that enhance the efficiency, security, and reliability of Village operations. By planning for current and future technology needs, the Committee helps ensure the Village can effectively serve residents and support its staff.
